The Tao of grace

Released in 2011, "The Tao of Grace" was a harbinger of music still to come! Mostly recorded at Trabuco Canyon Studios, Tao marks the inception of a more challenging type of music, but also hosts a disparate smorgasbord of songs within. From the multi-layered, psychedelic funk of "No Big Whoop" to the haunting, time-shifting "The Dark Horse," to the bittersweet jazz ballad, "Alex," The Tao of Grace has a little something for every music lover!
Product (EP)

2009's EP "Product," marks the beginning of a return to the brick & mortar recording studio. It was here that I began to hire real musicians again to play my music as a band in real time (what a concept). Engineered by Jim Moreland at Live Oak Studio in Trabuco Canyon, CA, Product captures the band playing 4 very catchy, jazzy, Brian Grace originals. The set closes out with the majestically apocalyptic "Chaos in Rainbows," which has me on all instruments sans drums. Some classic stuff here for sure!
weapons of jazz construction

"Weapons of Jazz Construction" is the finished product that tells my musical story for most of the 2000's decade. The album contains all of the major songs that I recorded during that period, and is a glimpse into both genres I was into equally - jazz and rock. I couldn't decide which one I liked more at the time, so I just went with the muse on either genre. Weapons marks the beginning of warming up to digital technology for me, and I ran with it as far as I could - playing all instruments, singing all notes and programming all drum machines!

Hodgepodge Jazz Garage

2001's Hodgepodge Jazz Garage is a potpourri of original jazz I recorded up until that year, starting in 1987 with my very first jazz composition as a teenager, "The Hope of Kim." Hodgepodge runs the jazz gamut from that point, up until the first 2 songs which open up the album (both recorded in 2001 in L.A. garage shown on the front cover). Contains all of the jazz recordings from 1987-1999 that were not included in my first proper CD, "Explorations."
Re-Sounding

At the turn of the 21st Century, 2000's "Re-Sounding" was born. Before I committed myself fully to jazz (more or less), the 1990's were a time that I dedicated myself to mostly writing & recording rock/pop, and this compilation reflects those songs. Armed with my trusty Tascam 8-track cassette recorder, I patiently wrote, sang, recorded & played all instruments on "Re-Sounding." An interesting time capsule for me, plus there are some totally awesome tunes here...
Explorations

Released originally on the now defunct "MP3.com" label in 1999, "Explorations" is my very first set of jazz recordings, culled from originals I wrote mostly during the 1990's. I am playing all of the instruments here with the exception of "Blues for Bob's Blues," "Korean Morning" and "Exploration," in which I played with various rhythm sections. An auspicious beginning to a lifetime filled with music!
the early rock daze (1987-1993)

Take a listen to where it all began! The Early Rock Daze (1987-1993) is my rock/pop predecessor to the "Re-Sounding" album. The 20 songs here are my first foray into composing & recording my original rock/pop songs. My earliest known recordings are here - includes the "Fall of 1991 4-track demos" (tracks 13-20) which was my first experience with multitrack recording! You can hear the progressive rock road I wanted to travel at first, but ultimately & gradually turned into a jazz journey for me in the end. Hear here.
